Description

Breakthrough T1D is looking for enthusiastic volunteers to help create an unforgettable atmosphere for runners taking part in a half marathon while raising funds to support people affected by type 1 diabetes. As a Cheer Point Volunteer, you’ll play a vital role in motivating participants along the route and helping them reach the finish line with a smile. This is a fun and rewarding opportunity to be part of an exciting event day, supporting dedicated runners and their families while contributing to an important cause. Your energy and encouragement can make a huge difference, especially when runners are facing the most challenging parts of their journey. As a volunteer, you’ll: -Cheer on Breakthrough T1D runners throughout the event. -Help make the cheer station the loudest and most encouraging point on the route. -Look out for runners wearing Breakthrough T1D tops and help fellow volunteers spot and support them. -Welcome and support family members and friends who come along to cheer on their loved ones. -Create a positive, inclusive, and motivating atmosphere for everyone passing through the cheer point. You’ll receive a Volunteer Handbook with everything you need to know about volunteering with Breakthrough T1D, along with a volunteer information pack containing event details, timings, maps, and guidance for the day. A member of staff will be available to support you before the event, and on the day you’ll be supported by the Breakthrough T1D team managing the cheer station. To help you get into the spirit of the event, you’ll be provided with a Breakthrough T1D t-shirt and plenty of cheering materials, including flags and bang-bang sticks. Reasonable out-of-pocket expenses will be reimbursed in line with the organisation’s volunteer policies. This is a fantastic opportunity to experience the excitement of a major sporting event, meet like-minded volunteers, and make a real difference to runners fundraising for an important cause.
